The Idea
The abundant availability of cashew nuts shells, a by-product derived from the processing of raw cashew nuts (RCN) – across the West African sub-region and the need to develop scientific methods to properly dispose of the cashew nuts shells, which hitherto was an environmental hazard as RCN processors had difficulties in disposing of it in an efficient way, as contact of cashew nuts shells with the soil destroys the nutrients in the soil, due to it’s acidic nature, provided the impetus for the incorporation of Cashew Derivation’s factory to add value to the cashew nut shells.
Cashew Derivation Ghana Ltd is a licensed Free Zones Company with its corporate headquarters located at the City Galleria Mall, Accra, Ghana and our factory is located at Dawhenya, near the Tema Port in Ghana.
The company was founded by Franklin Karikari. With a background in the London financial sector Franklin returned to Ghana in 1992, where he started commodities trade.
For the past +30 years Franklin has changed living conditions for many locals with providing jobs in this commodity trade. Today CNSL employs +100 people across Africa.
We have offices in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Togo, Nigeria. We are also represented in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Burkina Faso, Mali Senegal & Benin with representative offices sourcing raw materials.
We also have representative placed in Europe, Copenhagen.
Cashew nut shells is the main export trade in the biomass section of west Africa, where CNSL is today a significant player.
The Company was incorporated under the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) on the 9th day of June 2021 with its principal activity being the production of technical cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) and pelletised cashew nut shells cake.
Cashew Derivation Ghana Ltd has obtained the requisite licenses and permits from the Ghana Free Zones Authority, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Factories Inspectorate division in Ghana, the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ningo Prampram District Assembly, among others which means we follow strickly the laws of Ghana.
